Survey question: Religious fundamentalist

They don’t make them like these anymore, I suppose. While spitting through some code-books of the World Fertility Survey from Nigeria, I encountered a survey question on the religion of respondents. One of the answer categories was ‘Fundamentalist’.

Please note that this is a 1981 survey and I probably don’t understand the answer category properly, due to my present-day frame of reference.

I wonder what they meant, though …
