This is one of the best explanations I have seen so far. However, I am having a hard time finding examples of code when there are 2 levels. In my case, units (counts so I using glmer) within households and then households within communities.

Can we consider the group-level variable as the dependent variable?.

Thanks for posting this - I'm struggling my way through the final few months of an ecological PhD with a lot of mixed modelling involved. It really helps to see the examples and explanations for specifying different models.

I found theses sessions to be extremely helpful. I'm surprised there are no comments here. Just to encourage you to keep providing these sessions, I'm writing to say thanks.
I'm currently studying for my PhD in Economics and decided to switch from Stata to R.
